Problem
AI search leaves you out, or gets you wrong.
What you would say
“When people ask AI about our category, our competitors come up and we do not.”
- Urgency
- Time-sensitive — cheaper to fix early
- First useful answer
- The baseline run takes a few days and usually surfaces at least one incorrect fact about your company that is worth fixing immediately.
- Investigation steps
- 7 steps, in a fixed order
Business impact
What this usually costs
- Buyers shortlisting competitors before you enter the conversation
- Incorrect facts about your product circulating unchallenged
- Directories and review sites being cited as the authority on your own business
- Budget spent on “GEO” services with no defined measurement
Our approach
What we would investigate
Build a fixed prompt set
Discovery, category, comparison, recommendation and brand questions, written down and frozen so results are comparable month to month.
Establish a baseline across surfaces
Run the set on the AI search surfaces available to us and record mention, recommendation, citation, source used, competitor mention and factual accuracy.
Identify which sources are being used instead of you
This is often the most actionable finding: a directory, a review site or a competitor blog is answering questions about your business.
Audit entity clarity on your own site
Can a machine extract who you are, what you do, who you serve, where, how you price and who works there — in plain sentences, without inference?
Check consistency off-site
Website, LinkedIn, directories and profiles should state the same core facts. Contradictions across sources make every source less usable.
Check technical access
Are the pages that explain your business crawlable and renderable without JavaScript? Are relevant crawlers blocked in robots.txt by accident?
Assess citable material
Original data, research or worked examples give these systems something to reference. Marketing copy gives them nothing.
Differential diagnosis
Likely causes, and what proves each one
| # | Possible cause | Evidence that confirms or eliminates it |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | The site never states basic facts plainly | Entity clarity audit — which facts are extractable and which require inference |
| 02 | Company facts are inconsistent across the site and off-site profiles | Cross-source fact comparison |
| 03 | Nothing on the site is worth citing | Inventory of original data, research or worked examples versus marketing pages |
| 04 | Technical access problems on the pages that explain the business | Rendered crawl of key pages, robots.txt review for relevant crawlers |
| 05 | Stronger third-party sources hold the answer position | Source analysis from the prompt-set results |
The no-guessing rule
If the data does not support a conclusion, we write “we do not have enough evidence to confirm this” and tell you what we would need. A guess never becomes a recommendation.Outcome
What you end up with
- A documented prompt set and competitor set — the measurement system is the durable asset
- A baseline report across mention, recommendation, citation, source and accuracy
- A factual-error list with the likely source of each error
- Entity clarity improvements on-site and across your off-site profiles
- Content structure and technical accessibility fixes
- A monthly monitoring format that shows rate change, not screenshots

Questions
Questions about ai search visibility
Evidence and further reading
- Worked example
AI assistants were quoting two-year-old pricing and citing a directory
A fixed prompt set, run across four surfaces, found the company mentioned in a third of answers, recommended in almost none, and described with pricing it had abandoned two years earlier.

What AI search visibility actually means, and what nobody can sell you
You can measure how AI systems describe you. You cannot buy a placement. The difference between those two sentences is where most GEO marketing currently lives.

- ProblemTraffic but no leadsUsually a traffic-quality problem, a conversion problem, or a measurement problem — and they need different fixes.
